The holiday season is upon us, and all of us at Complete Lawn Care want to extend our warmest wishes for a safe and happy holiday season! During the chaos of cleaning, decorating, baking, gift buying and wrapping, we often neglect maintenance and safety concerns around our homes.
Here are a few things to consider for the safety of your family and your home this holiday season.
Decorating
While decorating your home and lawn with lights and lawn ornaments, be cautious of fire and safety hazards. Use proper equipment (step-stool, ladder) when hanging decorations to prevent falls. Ensure your outdoor light electrical connections are off the ground and away from metal gutters. Stay away from metal nails or tacks to hold them in place and instead try plastic clips or insulated tape. Eliminate the use of multiple extension cords; opt for a single cord of the appropriate length instead. Inspect all your holiday lights—indoor and outdoor—before you hang them. Get rid of any with frayed cords, cracked holders, or loose connections, as they may be a fire hazard.
Cleaning
Inspect your gutters and downspouts to make sure they are clear and flowing. Gutters and downspouts that are clogged with leaves, sticks, and debris can lead to serious damage on the exterior and interior of your house. Complete Lawn Care can help—just give us a call!
Fireplaces and chimneys are also critical areas to inspect for cracks and clogs. A blocked chimney could lead to disaster, as could a cracked chimney flue liner. Contact a licensed chimney sweep for maintenance.
Lawn Care
While the weather’s still mild, go outside and inspect your lawn. This can be a good time of year to inspect trees and shrubs for damage that can’t be seen at other times of the year. Make sure you’ve taken the appropriate steps to prepare your lawn for winter dormancy; just because the weather is cooling down doesn’t mean your lawn doesn’t need TLC! Contact Complete Lawn Care for assistance.
To our customers, their families and all of our readers: we hope that you have a safe and happy holiday season! We truly appreciate you and look forward to another wonderful and successful year. Happy Holidays!
