Did you know that between August 15 and November 30 is a special time for grasses across the mid-Atlantic? Seeds germinate readily in warm soils and established grasses produce stronger root systems for the following year. That means now is the time to prepare your lawn for next year. Complete Lawn Care recommends testing your soil before fertilizing, seeding, or aerating .

With daylight slowly lessening before  as fall arrives, you will notice that the reduction in light triggers changes in how plants grow. It even can change how animals and people think! Around central Maryland (which includes Montgomery County, Frederick County, Howard County, and Washington, D.C.) the process has already begun!

Have you seen some of the symptoms, such as areas under large trees drying out? Trees are beginning to store large amounts of water before going into fall dormancy. The grass beneath the trees are showing signs of drought stress if they look discolored.  If you notice those signs, water your trees!
